HIDES AND SKINS

The domestic livestock population of Ethiopia is estimated today at some 40 million head of cattle, 25 million sheep and 24 million goats yielding to the tanning industry annually, as a by-product of meat, more than 1 million cattle hides, 9 million sheep and 5 million goatskins is supplied to the industry. On this basis Ethiopia enjoys the 10th largest livestock population of all the countries in the world.

PRODUCTION FACILITIES

The scale of the original tannery has left ample space for expansion of production over the years and an infrastructure of engineering workshops and effluent treatment facilities to adequately support production.

Electrical power is obtained from the National Grid of the Ethiopian Electrical and Power Corporation(which includes electricity generated by the Hydro electric plant situated on lake Koka.

The company has a long history of the import of machinery and chemicals to support its comprehensive export operations.
